My 6-7'' jardini is in a 75g tank. I have a chance to buy a 125g acrylic (he says) 72x19x19 for $175. Is it worth buying as in 1. price and 2. better for the jardini or will that size difference not do much for the fish?

75g 48x18x21
125g 72x19x19

what do you think, appreciate it. Just want to know if it really matters or what.

I say worth it for the price, but for other fish, he will enjoy the extra length but will grow out of the tank at the same time he would the 75 because of the the width.

If it was close to me I would for sure buy it and house one or two Black Diamonds.

so besides my jardini outgrowing the width the same it would like the length more for sure. regardless, good price for the tank so buy and store it for future fish? house 2 BDs in the tank? Thought they were solitary piranhas

good price if comes with everything, if you like the tank to grow with the fish and like to change tank more than once i would get it.

unless you want the 125g to house other fish I would recommend waiting on finding a deal on at least a 180g 6x2x2' tank.

okay thanks. that is good idea, just wait til the monster is bigger.

I guess it just sounds better when someone else says it?

You may need to have that jar in a new tank sooner then a year. With average growth of 1 inch per month the jar would out grow the 75g within about 9 months, possibly sooner. Best to keep an arowana in a tank that is a least 3x the aro's length with a width at least equal to the length of the aro. So Your 75g is good for up to a 16" aro, while the 125g would give you a couple more inches of growth to 18".

On paper maybe, but in the real world I'd say no. I had to house Henwards RTG in my 80g (48x20x20") for a few weeks when his 6' tank cracked while he had another built, and at about 12-14" it looked really cramped. IMO if you wait for an aro to get to 16" in a 75g tank its probably going to be stunted.

IMO the OP should be looking for 5x2x2' or 6x2x2' in the next 6-8 months, ideally....
