personally if your looking for an easy setup, fill it with plants, pick a couple tetra species, and some dwarf south american cichlids, and a small catfish or two.

Tetras. I don't like mollys, platys, swordtails, or variatus. So I would get prolly 30 neons/cardinals, 10 serpaes, 5 blackskirts, 10 red-blue columbians, 10 glowlights, and probably 10 harliquin rasboras. Maybe a fancy pleco, or a pictus cat too. I would also have one hell of a filter on this.

Smaller polypterus species maybe a few clown loaches, or you could go with a cool new world cichlid tank, the aspistogramma species, tetras are cool too, it all depends if you want oddball or color, big eaters, what are your interests?

Im thinking along the same lines as [enjoyable_attempt] but without the skirts and about 30 harliquin rasboras. and 15 bloodfin

That would work also, I just like the look of large LF skirts. Maybe even add some hatchets, and gold prestellas too?

What about UDC? I use to have one they are really fun to have:D Upside Down Catfish...

I will say careful about pictus cats they will eat neons or any small fish for that matter.
