I'm contemplating selling one brand new XP3. I bought 2 brand new XP3's for my 75 gal. Should I keep both or sell one off?

If I keep both, should I fill both Xp3's up the same with stuff or, make one for bio-media, and other for something like mechanical filtration?

xp3 are rated for a maximum of 175 gallons!!.
It also depends on your bioload. How many fish do you have?
I have alot of of fish(24) in a 100 gallon. One was doing the job but I have two xp3's to be safe!!!

I think one xp3 is more then enough filter for a 75gallon. I would ditch the stock media and set it up like an Eheim though. From the bottom; pre filter rings, coarse sponge, ehfisubstrate, fine sponge. This set up worked well and it was the only filter on my 150g.

Of course if ya set up the other one then you will have a cycled filter for the next tank ya get.

They're rated for that much but it's also a fact that, that is the rating for an XP3 with no media inside.

So I was thinking, lets just say the "up to 350 gph" advertised on the box, was 300 gph with media inside. 300 divided by 75 = 4x turnover rate. 300 being the GPH, and 75 being the amount of gallons. I think i'm going to stick with 2 xp3's, it'll give me somewhere around a 8x turnover rate.

Sell it for 50 and price match an ac 110 for 34 at petsmart buy a new fish with the extra cheese....Thats the hussle.

thats the way to go man

:D

I also think that a single XP3 would be more than enough for a normally stocked 75 gallon.

I'd keep it and also buy a HOB for the 75. Buts thats me.
