i have a planted, driftwood, rock cave 75 gallon south/central tank going it has 2 convicts,2 firemouth, blue acara, and 5 pepper corys, and about 10 swordtails and plattys. I want salvini pretty bad I was wondering if they would work with the stocking of this setup if I have lots of hiding caves plants driftwood to break it up and the livebearer dithers?

Long term I would say the chances are high, salvini will cause problems.Im surprised your convicts are not chasing the other cichlids. If they are all getting on at the moment,I would not do anything to change it.

The convicts will chase away the firemouth and acara from there chosen pieces of land but they just chase. They switch areas weird. They don't mind the plattys or swordtail or corys.

Convicts are only really aggressive towards fish they see as "competition", meaning other cichlids. As Stanzz said, I would not recommend a salvini with your mix, or any other cichlids. I am also a bit surprised the convicts aren't wreaking havoc, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it I guess. Best of luck

If you really want the salvini, then add it, and then change the stocking to what the salvini will allow in the tank.

If the salvini is a nice to have for you, I would just leave it alone. Playing musical tanks with fish is not fun.
