It's been a month since my last update...so here goes...

- The Arulius Barbs are still breeding like rabbits. I would like to trade the Arulius Barbs out for Filament Barbs (like I originally wanted) since the Arulius probably won't grow large enough to co-exist with the Oscar.

Does anyone know where I can find Filament Barbs (Puntius filamentosus or Dawkinsia filamentosa) in the SF Bay Area? I can't seem to find them anywhere.

-I added almost 2 Liters of Seachem's Purigen to the tank and it absorbed all the tannins that my driftwood is still leaching into the water. Check out how crispy the water is looking...even though I haven't done a water change in 2 weeks:

Below are the before and after pictures...the second picture was 3 days after I put Purigen in the sump. For some reason, the water always looks hazy in photos, but I think even in these shots you can see a difference viewing the 10' length of the tank. I'm a fan of Purigen...the stuff works.

- I bought a Pink Tail Chalceus (the yellow pelvic fin variety) that's currently in quarantine...he will go into the big tank in 3 weeks.

Great tank! I want to visit.

Really interesting stock for a tank that size. I would expect to see that in a 180 not a 770. Nice job I'm really liking it.

Haha tank soo big they look like guppies and tetras in there. Awesome tank btw!

Thanks. Yeah, the tank makes them look even smaller than they really are.

What a beauty. Gives me ideas for mine. $48" tall is the way to go man! Looks amazing!

Thank you. Yeah, I love the height...seems like a lot of people on here are afraid to deal with tall tanks, but they give you that "wow" factor that you can't get regardless of how wide the tank is...still looks stubby. But man, your 12 footer...that is awesome!

The oscar is going to eat just about every fish in there

I'm trying to resolve the Arulius Barb issue...I'm pretty sure they would end up as lunch and the Yellow fin Rasbora are borderline...they are about 7" now, but they are narrow bodied, so there is a risk there if the Oscar ends up growing into a 15" monster.

What other fish do you think the Oscar would be able to eat?

Since we are talking about stock issues, let's take a look at what you have in your 300G:

Arapiama Gigas
X2 RTCs
GATF
Motoro stingray
Clown knife
Mono peacock bass

Good luck with that...

Looking good Al!!

Thanks man. Loaches are doing great. One of them is a hooligan...punks everyone in the tank. I've never had such an aggro loach.

Great tank! I want to visit.

Shoot me a PM if you are ever in the area.

Nice tank OP! Your the guy who uses laguna right?

haha- Yeah, I'm a big fan of Laguna pumps. I love my Max Flo 4200. I'm always telling people how much more efficient they are than Mag Drives. I think once people start realizing how much more efficient they are (in some cases over 50% more efficient) no one will ever buy a mag drive again. In some cases, they will pay for themselves in less than one year.

Really interesting stock for a tank that size. I would expect to see that in a 180 not a 770. Nice job I'm really liking it.

Thanks. I wanted more of a community feel. I'm not a fan of trying to keep huge growing aggressive predators together.

It's called a grow out tank bud.

I never said your tank is over stocked obviously it's not. I was Stating the obvious that the Oscar will eat just about everything in there.
