So im new to the whole monster fish owning, very new. I found a guy who claiming that he is selling 3 black tip sharks. He told me that they are 7in's each and they are in one tank. By the sound of thing the tank doesnt seem like its bigger than 200 gallons. From everything i have read everywhere black tip sharks are large, like 5 feet large. So is this guy confused about the type of fish he has, or is there somthing that i missed. Also how complicated are they to own? any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Don't know much about keeping free swimming sharks but have hatched and raised lots of bottom dwellers. I'm assuming that it is a black tip REEF shark(6 ft full grown), rather than an oceanic black tip(9.5 ft full grown). The reef sharks are born live and are born well over a foot in length. Unless he's mistaken on the size they are not black tip reef sharks.
In my experience cartilaginous fishes are among some of the hardest fish to keep healthy long term. Even if you can get them to eat it doesn't necessarily guarantee they are going to be good for the long haul.
IMO big sharks are kinda like parrot fish and lots of butterflies... they should be left out in the wild. :)

odds are they are silver sharks... a brackish water catfish. they are called blackfin sharks, columbian sharks and blacktip sharks. just ask him if they have whiskers.
