I have to pick up lumber today so I can start building stand for my soon-to-be-set-up 360.
Tank is 8 x 3. The stand I will want to be about 32" high.
Questions:
Is 3/4" plywood really needed for the top of the stand or will 1/2" suffice? The frame the plywood will sit on will be made with 2x4s and will more than likely be spanned at 16".
I plan to use 6 2x6 legs or is 8 really a better number? Should I sit the legs on wood or freestanding? I guess for leveling purposes it might be better to sit them on wood?
Can any cross membering be done with 2x4's or will I need bigger?
I plan on datoing all joints. Should I support the joints with 2x4 braces behind them?
I'm asking these questions because if I can save 50 bucks on lumber, then that's 50 bucks that goes toward fish.
