8 gallon canister filter

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That barrle if clamped corectly can be kicked out the bed of a pickup truck full of water and it wont open bust. As long as you have good bulkhead fitings on it i dont see a problem

Yep, that drum is perfect for a diy canister filter! What do you plan on filling it up with... other than aquarium water?

You could probably make that bulkhead work but this Uniseal would probably do a better job on the round surfaces:

I came across the Uniseals on this forum. Do a search, they get great reviews!

do those come in bigger sizes? like 50g?

i would love to make a bio tower outta one when i build my 500g

I've got those drums for holdiong grain for beer brewing, bought directly from them when i lived in Rochester. They're awesome, slightly flexible so you'll be able to squish it flat for a bulkhead no problem. When I was at their place they did have larger ones (55g or more not sure) but not sure how they'd be on shipping, they are pretty light though. Any DIYers in the Rochester NY area would do well to check them out, they are kind of a dusty dirty warehouse/ex factory thing, but it's huge and full of all kinds of awesome stuff if you dig around a bit.
