just set up a custom take 6'x18''x24'' with 8 half inch RBP juves Right now they look kinda lost and hard to see in the tank but how do you think they will fair as they get older?

hi, i'm a noob with piranhas but i started with 8pcs 1/2 inch Juvi. RPB as well...
they are housed in a 48"x30"x30" tank...
yes, they will hide when newly introduced to the tank..
now, they have reached a size of 1" and i can always see them...
so don;t worry about it...

they have lots driftwood as cover...
my tank pic is posted in page 5 at the sticky..

one thing i noticed is that some of them tend to have nipped fins but some not... no big deal because not much damage done...

hope this answer helps...

NEED HELP TOO...
*** is this normal?? where some have nipped fins and some has not..
is this due to the fact that i provide lots of driftwood which some claimed as their territory?

every gregarious animal has the desire to establish a pecking order. With piranhas, it's nipping fins, and occasionally pulling scales. So yes, it's normal.

In the wild, EVERYTHING will eat baby piranhas, so their best bet for safety is to make themselves scarce. As they grow, they get more "street cred" (lol) and aren't as afraid of everything anymore.

So, to answer your question, as they grow, they'll be out and about more often.

They will fin nip when they are young, they like it. You will probly find the ones that havnt been nipped are the more dominant ones.
