I know this is a matter of opinion, but I’d like to hear everyone’s thoughts , what would you recommend to make up for what it lacks in size, etc.

Thanks fellas and ladies

Well I think you would be ok if the dimensions where 30” wide for the bass. I think when you see there size once you have had them 1.5-2 years 18-20+” that tank will look small. I had a 300 gallon that looked small with my bass which is the reason I saved for 3 years for my 600 gallon bought it 5 years ago and got it up and running about 2.5 years ago for various reasons filtration house etc. I want to go bigger next time.

You could probably do 2-3 bass in that tank at 18-20+” you will probably have to do a water drip for good water quality or a lot water changes in a week. The biggest issue is the length and width of your tank and arrow will have to go I had a silver arrow that was close to 30” when he jump out my tank with weighted lids I have tried one more time with another arrow and my bass during feeding time injured the arrow so badly he couldn’t right himself (upside down) and passed so no more arrows for me at the moment. Good luck hopefully some one else can chime in with some good suggestions.

Orino grow rather slow compared to others and is one of the smaller species, pushing 24” when full grown. You have some time to grow them out pair them off. You can keep a pair in there for life.

I wouldn’t power feed them. Just feed them enough so they never have sunken bellies. A lot of people feed heavy to make them grow faster. Keep it moderate.

A lot of guys will tell you to go larger but plenty of people maintain pairs of Cichla in a 180 even. I think a bonded pair of orinos and the arowana would look great in that tank.

I wouldn’t aquascape heavily given the limited room. Maybe just a few pieces of wood and some round boulders. Keep it simple with a black background to make it look clean.

Good luck.

Thanks for the responses guys. I didn’t like how shallow that tank was. I am now looking to build a tank. Plan on going 86x36x32 to allow a better turning radius. If I was to keep a male and female bass, is it worthwhile to add an extra foot to the length?

Asking if it’s worth to add an extra foot is asking if it’s worth to add an extra million in your bank

Ha! Was expecting a response like that. The extra foot concerns me due to my house being floorjoists on stemwall. I am unfortunately trying to get away with the bare minimum until I relocate and I am able to do my 750

No i hear you I wanted to get a 8x3 but my floor space won’t allow it without sticking out in the middle of my house lol

Any of you have experience in tank builds? I priced out the glass today to just do it right the first time.
