88 Gal. Stocking Suggestions

Hello everyone,
I have put together a stock list for my new tank. Tell me what you think and inform me about any possible problems.


Red Rainbowfish OR Madagascar Rainbowfish=8
Rainbow Snakehead=1
Moonlight gourami=1
Convict Cichlid(female)=1
Firemouth Cichlid=1 or a pair, not sure yet

Hmm why not get 8 red rainbows and 8 madagascars?

Also..I used to do stocking threads..But my tank is nothing like I planned Its better lol. Its fun going to the lfs and being surprised by the fish you didnt know about And the ones that are compatible.

I dont know about the con..Maybe replace it with a different fish? Who knows

I am getting the con in a trade. I was going to get reds and madagascars but i want to leave room for some unusual fish that might turn up. The con is in with a pearl gourami and other fish so I think she is peaceful enough but who knows.

Look out for the convict being aggressive towards the smaller fish. They are evil sometimes.

I do know the fish can be quite mean. I have chosen fish that are a couple inches larger than the convict. THe convict is only 4 inches and the smallest fish are 6 inches. Still, I do not know if she will be completely safe so if she isn't I will give her back.

Those fish will attack things twice their size (including human hands). But you might want to get the other fish first too. 1) The others have time to get bigger. 2) They can establish complete territory. Normally I would say she and the firemouth would be trouble, but the tank is probably big enough to avoid any conflict.

Yes i was worried about that. The tank is an 88 gallon and i will make two or three terretories to avoid confrontations. I will put the convict in last also.

I don't know snakeheads, but for the others, it sounds good. I think low lighting with separate driftwood and rocky sections and darker gravel would suit them best.
