Hi all I'm after a 8fter in a few months I'm just wondering are these a common size tank I'm after one second hand, can I pick one of these up fairly cheap? Thank you.

that is a 240 gallon long. i just picked one up in craigslist for 250. retail they go for 700 to 2000

Yep, a 240. Pretty common dimensions too, if you run across an 8' tank it's a good bet it will be a 240.

I don't know about in the UK, but they run cheap here in the states.

they are very common and so are the 6X 18 inch tanks.

Yup that's a common size. Locally here they go for just under 1000.00 CAD for the tank, stand and lid brand new.

It depends on whether its glass or acrylic, but in my area u can get a glass one with cover and lights but no stand for around 450 to 500 brand new. acrylic is about three times as much of course

My 55 G tank was $180 with hood and no stand

If i can get a 240G for $500 + stand - hood, i'd be on it quicker than you can say fish.
