So I have my 8x3x3 and need more flow/want more flow, does someone have a great powerhead preferably bluetooth so the chords don't have to go inside the tank since I have am acrylic custom tank and can't just run the chord straight out the top. I read about the mp40 but also heard nightmares about it, wondering what everyone uses and likes

i tend to have it near the top on the right side panel like 4in under the water line. it circulates the whole tank leaving no dead spot.

Maybe ill give that a shot, since I have my two inlets into my sump on the left side. You feel from up top, it even circulates the bottom of the tank? I don't have much decor for more space for my ray, I just wanna get more **** from settling on the sand

Smart man! I should of gone bare bottom but I also enjoy the esthetics of a tank even though my ray pushes the sand where he dam pleases lol he's been doing it for 8 years now!

oh brother, if my tank was glass i would 100% have sand but since its acrylic i don't bother since i don't wanna scratch my beloved tank 😂 if your goal is too keep the bottom of the tank clean then my recommendation would 100% do the job! good luck with your rays

One drawback of going bare bottom, is with sand (or other subtrate) all those intersticial spaces have the capacity to hold extra populations of benaficial bacteria, and can have a benificial effect in a power outage, or if a pump quits, when filtration can be compromised.
Especially if all fitration is tied to a canister, or other remote unit..
