9" Synspilum & 7" Regani Sexing help please

Interested if any can offer feedback on the sexing of these fish? Unfortunately, catching and venting is out of the question at this time. Temperment is pretty OK - only aggression is occasionally from the Synspilum to a 9" Chancho. They are starting to swim together a good bit, but no courting behavior.

Thanks - my first one and I've been happy. Killed his 1" sibling when together in a heavily decorated 300 - other than that, has never shown any aggression

My guess based on body shape pics is female syn & male regani, but this is far from exact. Sub dominant male vieja can look VERY close to females. My guess that the syn is female is based on the football shape of the body. The regani looks male to me, based on the steep profile of the head. Def not the best way to sex them, vent pics at this size would be easy to sex however

Sad day but I just sold these guys/gals. I just had too many fish in the 300, and wanted to keep the Amphs - good news is they went to an experienced fishkeeper and will be the stars in a large tank - took a while to sell as I had to turn down a few offers that I knew wouldn’t work out for the fish
