Hey I screwed up buying a Uv sterilizer off of Ebay and I ended up with a 9 watt model instead of the 24 watt model I expected. Is it even worth putting it in there? Is 9 watts better than 0? or should I sell it unopened? It's the mean green machine internal uv sterilizer. Thanks for any tips.

It should give you some basic improved water clarity. Probably not going to handle free-floating parasites or anything of that nature very well with that much water volume. What is the flow rate on it?

Ya 9 watts is too small for a 220. I would go for a 18 watt minimum. 24w would be better. Higher the watt the higher flowrates u can use through it to get certain levels of sterilization.

Crap, huge mistake by me. Maybe I should give it a go until I can get the larger model, then I can put the 9 watt in my 30 gallon. The box says it's perfect for aquariums up to 50 gallons. This sucks.

You want another one? I'm selling it for 45. 40 if you like the Flyers, and can prove it. If anyone in southeast Pa. wants to meet up and take this thing off me, shoot me a Pm and we can figure out where to meet. I'll set up a thing in the marketplace later.
