Ok so im looking for an in tank self suffecient UV sterilizor. I have greenish water that i CANT get rid of ive tried everything. I dont want to have to go buy a power head aswell so is there uv sterilizors that have their own pumps they I can stick in my tank plug in and leave ? What wattage is best for a 180 ? Last question are thies things a one time use kind of deal or do you just put em in and turn them on when needed then store away? Or do you plug them in and leave them in the system ? Im a little confused about them but I think they can solve my green water problem

I did a lot of research before buying mine and I found that TOP AQUA was the best for what I was looking for. Pretty much the same thing you described. They make a 13 watt and bigger. Self container impellar, A prefilter that is easy to clean and cleared up my 125 in less than a week. I turned it on and left it till the water was clear. After that, I put it on a timer and let it run 6-8hrs a day just to maintain the clarity and eliminate any possible parasites like ich or whatever. I have had it for more than a year and have not had to replace the bulb yet.

some people leave there's on 24/7 ad other only hve em run for 8hrs a day, basically the length of time you have your lights on ..... i always thought it was 1 watt per 10 gallons ... have ya trie dusing the carbon in your filter ? my water turns a off yellowish after a week or so unless i have carbon in my filter my tank is also right beside a patio window that someone leaves the blinds open ALL day lol (not me) why not get one that for like a pond something rated for like 1000-5000gallons there fairly cheap and you just hook em to a power head that you could have set on a timer to turn on and off during the lighting hours then you wouldnt have to change the bulb as much in it

Hey just so you know I recently picked up the green killing machine 9 watt sterilizer from AA and it is actually making a difference in my 220. I accidentally bought the 9 watt model thinking I was getting the 24 watt one and got kind of stuck with the thing. I couldn't re-sell it so I just ran it in the big tank and I'll be damned if it doesn't have my water clearer than it's ever been. It's was in there for about a week and a half then my water was crystal clear for the first time since I have had the tank. Not just clean, crystal clear, no floating pieces or green/white haze. Don't know if this helps but they are cheap and probably couldn't hurt to try. You can pick either model up on ebay for under 50. Good luck.

ok thanks ! I know I figured the size wouldnt matter it would just need more time. My tank isnt THAT green but it is green. So hey 60 bucks and its clear for ever I can handle that.
