I just bought this uv sterilizer setup for my 60 gallon(48"x15"x17") tank and I was wondering if it would work? It says on the labeling up to 50 gallons so I was thinking if I should've got the 24 watt instead.

If you haven't opened it yet and are debating taking it back then I suggest you do. Even though I have the 24w version and it does do its job; with the replacement bulbs being only proprietary they can tend to get expensive.
If you already have it in your tank then no worries. Like I said before, it will do the job. Just expect to change the bulb every 3 to 6 months.

Holy Moly! I went back and exchanged it, came back and the 24 watt model was missing parts so I'm going to have to go back and pick up another one
