I just finished up my stand for a 90 gal. planted tank I'm setting up. I created an album you can check out if you like, showing various stages of the build. It's the basic framework skinned with 1/4" oak veneer plywood.

I used a Kreg Jr. jig to drill the pocket holes for all the screws holding together the frame and trim. It's the first experience I had using them and I'm impressed with how they work.

Now it's on to building the canopy, followed by a stand and canopy for my 135.

Very nice job. It looks great. When its completed, show pics of the canopy.

Thanks, got a start on the canopy today. All the parts are cut and drilled except for the doors. Hope to get it assembled and stained tomorrow.

Made pretty good progress on the canopy. Need to put the doors on the ends, add some blocks for it to rest on the tank and put the top on. Then it's just take off the doors, stain 'er and seal 'er and she should be good to go.

Looks great Dad!

I look forward to your help building a canopy for my 135.

Can't wait to see it in person.

Nice looking stand and canopy! I recently discovered the Kreg jig, great tool for building stands and canopies.

Thanks, everyone!

Finished up the canopy except for finishing the plywood on the top. I'm leaning toward Rustoleum Stone Canyon Moss for it. That's what I'm putting on the tank for a background as well. And I need to put some chains on the canopy doors to keep them from falling open too far and stressing my hinges. The doors open from the top and I want to have them in position to act as a shelf when they're open.

The picture shows the canopy sitting right on top of the stand. Only the tank is missing!

Here's the stand and canopy in action. Tank has been set up for about a month. It just finished cycling and I hope to get some fish in it tomorrow. Pretty poor full tank shot with the flash reflection and all, but at least you can see the stand. It's my first shot at a planted tank. Just did a trim and it has a lot of filling in to do.
