ri
im pickin up a 90 gallon tank would a fluval 405 be good enough for it im goin to be housing affrican cichlids in the tank and i was also wondering about t5 lights any info on them will be great do they waste more electricity or are they more efishint

IMHO a 405 wouldnt be enough

its a 110 gallon filter so it should be ok

but i personally would go huge with the filtration

i also have a aquaclear 70 i can add on but im more intrested in the t5 lights

For lighting I would suggest the following:

It’s a great fixture, got one on my 90 gallon and it is great. If you ever want plants, you’ll likely need a second fixture but if you have Africans your not going to be able to keep plants anyways

Your 405 is not enough for a 90 gallon. You’ll need a flow rate of at least 360 gallon / hour. The 405 filled with media has a flow rate of 225 gallons per hour (340 without media). Page 6 on the below link.

If you put your AC70 on there that should help, you’ll have to keep a close eye on it for a while to make sure. I'm not too sure both filters will be able to handle the high bioload.

what about a fluval 405 and maybe a 205 or 305 as well

Now your talk'n. A 405 and 305 should be able to handle a well stocked 90 gallon tank. Both would give you a total 410 GPH flow rate (when full of media) and a very good amount of filter media.

i just picked up the tank and its one of the tanks from petco that they put the three dividers in to put feeders in and i dosent have lids and a regular 24 in lid didnt fit so i dont kno what to do about that is there a place where i can get coustom lids made

If you have a standard 90 gallon tank, you should be able to find glass lids for it. Most pet stores that carry 75 gallon and larger tanks will have them or can order them in for you.

That's what did for my 90 gallon

well i did the calculations on the exact gallons of my new tank and its 102 gallons
