For the last six months I have been trying to buy a standard (48" x 18" x 24") 90 gallon aquarium on craigslist. I built a stand for the aquarium before that. I have had no responses to my offer of $150 for just the aquarium alone. The cost of a 75 gallon aquarium in the pet stores here is around $240. I have not found any petstores that carry 90 gallon aquariums, but I asume that the price of one would be equally absurd.
Would it be worth while to build my own aquarium? What would the aproximate cost of glass, silicone, and braces be, assuming the glass is 12 mm thick? I do not have any prior aquarium building experience, what is your advice?
