After looking for a larger tank and realizing the 125g tank I previously posted about wouldn't work out where I planned, I found a local guy, who's a buddy of mine selling a 90 gallon reef ready aqueon tank with the offset overflow for $75. Going to get it this weekend. It doesn't come with any plumbing and I know its drilled with a 1" drain and 3/4" return. Should I set it up like this or should I set it up where the 3/4" is an emergency drain. I've seen this done on a few setup.

Should I order the megaflow kit that is made for these aquariums? Are they relatively quiet?

Now on to filtration. Another local guy is willing to trade a decent size wet dry sump, has to be at least a 24"X12" if not bigger. I was planning on using this for my biomedia and running a jebao dcp-4000 or 6000 return.
I also wanting to run a cannister on this tank to do some polishing and running a little more bio and purigen.
Would a fluval 306 or 406 / ehiem 2213 or 2215, worse case do a sun sun 302, but I'm trying to get away from these. I'm not really needing a large canister, since the wet dry will be doing most of the work, just wanting something that will help polish the water and as a backup system.

As far as heating, I have the hydor 200w in line I planned to run on the canister and was thinking of running a 100-150w in the the wet dry tank.

All sounds good. I'd not waste time on the mega flow not really all the quiet. Do it as a full syphon drain system. I know this sounds counter intuitive but it works. Run the 3/4 as your main drain with a gate valve and the 1" as your emergency drain you will be able to run 600g/h through your system then with out any issues. Why 600 you say? Well a 1" under normal flow can only handle 600gph. Your 3/4" under full syphon will actually be able to handle about 1200 gph but that's not safe because the 1" won't be full syphon and it can only handle 600 if your main clogs you've got water everywhere. You can look it up on how to do a full syphon or I can tell you. It's not hard and it's really pretty quiet actually almost silent. As for the canister for back up its a fine idea just remember its still going to get dirty and needs to be cleaned even though you are only thinking of it as back up, unless you put it on the sump after your other filtration. Hope that helps.
