90 gallon cichlid tank smells really bad

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Do some water changes until its gone. It shouldn't smell w/ those water params, so not sure what else you can do.

+1 ^ i wouldn't know how water can smell bad with good water parameters either haha. water changes! scrubbing the tank down may help too especially the walls above water level

Whats your water change schedule & routine like?

Sounds to me like you need to vacuum your gravel real good & if you have sand it can get funky if you don't stir it up ever so often. Several big water changes with a good substrate vac should get rid of it.

This is of coarse assuming you have adequate filtration (at least double your tank size).

Hikari gold only, yea it didn't smell for a while and it's just now started smelling. I just checked the params with APIiquid test just to make sure and that's how they turned out. I'm just gonna do water changes and see what happens

I just saw your stock level from your other post. You need to be doing a bare minimum 75% water change & compete tank gravel vac twice a week to keep up. Pull you filter pads & rinse them in tank water real good, then while you're doing your water change vacuum the entire tank gravel real good.

Do not overfeed as this will just make you problem worse. Big water change & vac twice a week should keep you straight until you find homes for the rest of those fish. I know several people that would like to have that buttikoferri. On a side note even if you keep the blood parrot the 90 will eventually be taken over by the red/midevil.
