The search brought up wayyyy to many posts that just read gallons..

so how many rbp can i put in a 90 gallon? also i know some people on here keep convicts with them...i also know that any tank mate is just a meal waiting to happen. so how many successful stories are there with convicts and rpbs.

also i really need suggestions on how to setup the actual tank. im gonna do black sand as im sure you read. what else should i put in the tank? basically im asking for you guys to build my tank the way you would want your 90 gallon to be setup if you could do it over

i would put 4-5 rbp's but you will need some heavy filtration. i wouldnt have anything other then your rbp's in there because it will just become a conflict and will stress out your fish. i would put some driftwood and some rounded rocks in the tank with lots of hiding spaces to keep your fish happy.

a 90 gallon has the same footprint as a 75 doesn't it??

if so... 4 would be good.. i have 6 in my 75 right now but i plan to sell some off when they get a little bigger.. black sand, driftwood, some low light plants, and massive filtration is what i got set up.. :D

lol i have 4 now. ugh thats it there has gotta be more i can throw in there lol

how is this for filtration?

Magnum 350 canister filter,
EMP400 filter

so far i have tried....

sunfish
pleco
neon tetras
crappie minnow
rosy reds
sucker minnow
emerald shiners
guppies

the only ones that "made" it are the pleco and a 5 of the 20 guppies i put in there.. not sure on the status of the emerald shiners yet becuase i just put them in there last weekend and not enough time has went by..

is a Magnum 350 canister filter and an aquaclear 30 is that good enough? what else should i add? also how many piranhas can i max out with in a 90 gallon.....thanks

for the convicts (or other cichlids for that matter) try adding similar sized ones. you don't want ones that bigger, as they might stress/kill your p's, nor do you want ones too small as they might be eaten.

4-5 might seem like nothing when they are small... but you need to remember they will get to 6-7 inches in a matter of 1 year.. having more than 5 6 inch piranhas in a 48 x 18 tank will be too much..
