Hey guys, I was inspired by masterB's 500 build to pursue something I haven't had since I was young, a native tank. I have been working to collect fish for a couple weeks and with a little trial and error I am still on my way. When Fish outgrow my tank they will be going to my girlfriend fathers koi pond which is 1000 gallons+ (he hasnt had koi in quite a while)

So far I have a nice pair of blue gills, the larger fish being 7" and the smaller right under 6", a 5" white perch, a 5" yellow perch, a 5" flier, and a 14" LMB. Yes I am aware that the bass is already pushing it. If you have anything negative to say go for it, as I already said they have a large home waiting for them where they will be well fed.

Tank is filtered by 2 Rena Xp3s and i've been doing a 15 gallon waterchange weekly (note that I added the bass today so that will jump to a 30 gallon change and more as needed)

Without furthur adieu, here are some pics. Bear with my because the lighting is a single 36" t8 as i'm trying to give it a dark natural look. So far both bluegills and the perch are eating, other 2 fish were just added today.

and I want some longears ;)

we just gotta figure out how to do that whole shipping thing cheap ;)

The tank looks great... When the bass comes out of hiding, take another pic.

In regards to shipping fish at low cost. What about pure oxygen and 2 day shipping or ups priority where it's a standard cost and not by weight? There is also the blue stuff that you add to the bag water to help tranquilize the fish. Just stuff them with food (feed them 3 times a day) and then don't feed them for 2 days or so before you ship the fish.

- most likely going to sell the piece of manzanita on the side of the tank to give teh bass more room to move around, may get rid of the bigger bogwood but the bream love it. haven't decided which piece yet

thanks bud! he's getting hungry...

apparently fliers look tastier than perch, he made a good attempt at sucking him down but missed and hit the glass.... I may stick the flier in my 20 long to save his butt just because he's such an interesting fish and also let the small yellow perch grow out in there because my girlfriend is getting attached to it :)

I love the bass!
