90 gallon oddball stocking ideas

Hi and welcome to MFK!

My go-to oddballs for a tank around there are as follows:

• Bichirs - Most upper jaw species would work, senegals or delhezi are great
• African knife (Xenomystus nigri)
• Rope fish
• African butterfly fish
• Synodontis species
• Smaller spiny eels

That's a list of African fish (though some eels are from Asia I believe), not too well versed on the others. Hope this helps

Toadfish (freshwater lionfish) are great oddballs as well. Although mine was always kept in a marine tank so I have no experience keeping them in full freshwater. Super fun fish to feed though!

 

[cichlid tank]

leaf fish, black ghost knives, ropefish, bichirs, pictus cats, wrestling halfbeak, pike characin, plecos, a piranha tank (not really odd but they are eye catching), pickerel, all the species listed above too are great options
