:character0087: Hey im starting a 90 gallon aquarium, well 90 gallon rift lake... any suggestions on which filter i should use??...oh yeah i have tahition moon sand for substrate, not th best i know but i like it, what also would be a suggestion on a buffer??? Thanks hope to hear from someone.

If I am thinking of buffering the way it should be making the water harder, you can put in a few pieces of lime stone, this will harden the water for you the same way eraginite does.

Thanks for you suggestions! Just realized that my city pH is alreay between 8.2 and 8.6 so i should be okay. Now my concern is still which would be a good filter to get for a 90 gallon aquarium. Thanks.

Sump or canister or both. I would definatly go with a sump if I were you.

either do a wet/dry with sump and an overflow.

Or get 2 large filters. i like the aqua clears but i've seen better

I'd go for big externals rather than a sump.

Carl.

Go with a sump that can handle a 150 gallon tank. For one its the best filtration out there. Two you wont have anything hanging on the back of your tank, no intake tubes and you can hide your heaters in the sump.
