wow....Been a while since I've posted..

I recently adopted out my tropical community tank, stripped it down, and am currently seasoning it. I thought that a fun, colorful assortment of fish would keep my interest, but alas, it did not. I still found myself spending most of my time staring into my 30 gallon where my loyal senegal bichir (Dinky) resides with his young pleco tank-mate. I've had Dinky for almost a decade now, and I've never gotten bored of him. Whether he's eating sinking pellets, beef heart, or feeders, he's always interesting to watch. So I've come to the conclusion that what I need is another, pseudo-evil, monster fish in my 90 gallon.

I currently have a large canister filter, as well as a penguin 350 filtering the water. I used a sand substrate (cheap play sand... i know i know, but I washed the $#@& out of it before I put it in). No decorations as of yet, because I'm not sure what to put in. I would appreciate your input. My dream fish choices are 1) a silver arownana or 2) a black pirhana. Neither are an option because obviously the tank is too small for any arownana, and sadly piranha are illegal in VA... I'd rather not do another Oscar tank, or Pacu for that matter. I've done that before and I'd like to try something new.

So I turn to you for suggestions! I would like something relatively aggressive. I would also like to be able to keep a couple bamboo shrimp to help patrol the bottom of the tank, but I understand that might be difficult with a larger carnivore.

Thanks for any help you have to offer!

Now this fish would certainly hold my attention! How have I never heard of the gulper before?!?!..... although, even the quickest read-up on him suggests that bamboo shrimp would be a waste of $10, though I'm sure he would appreciate the meal.

Flowerhorn. They have an amazing personality and a variety of colors to choose from.

maybe a single parachromis freddy or loiselle

Forgive me for saying so, but I've never been fond of the flowerhorn. Looks like the have giant tumors. I always think I might mistake an actual parasite for just another unsightly bump on the fish. ... However, the pike cichlids are appealing. Never had one of those either. Do they have interesting personalities?
