how do i close the hole

was a 90 for saltwater and has a hole in the bottom i want to close it up and use it for freshwater

any ideas before i go buying it?

put a bulkhead on it and cap it

Or silicone a sheet of glass/cement a piece of acrylic over it (depending on what the tank is made of)

You can use it as the intake or output of a canister filter though, or put a ball valve on it to use for easy water changes

bulkhead cap is deffinatly the easiest way. or just use it to your advantage and use the hole for filtration. but ya you can just buy bulkheads that have a cap on the top.

no reason you cant use it for freshwater just build a sump or use if for the intake of a canister

if you must close it just get a bulk head fitting and screw on an end cap

though i would do what FSM said and put a ball valve on it for easy water changes (if i was not using it for a sump)

I would probably just use it for an overflow too. But if you really want to cap it you could just have a harware store cut two little squares of glass to cover the hole with overlap, then put enough silicone in there to pack the hole and seal the glass pieces in place one the outside and the inside covering the hole.

all good suggestions.

thanks. prolly put a ball valve on it now so i can do easy wc's then add my canister filter in later.
