setting up a new 90 gallon.........how do i introduce these fishes
silver arowana(3),red texas(2),peacock bass if i find them,parrot fish may b

getting the above fishes in small size is a good idea or should i buy big 1's?:confused::confused::confused:

Manoj.. hey.. silvers are very fragile at a small size..in india the smallest we get is 4" to 5" mostly but i have seen 2" at an lfs here once.. within a year a silver will easily hit the 14" mark and you will need a larger tank.. so 3 silvers in a 90 gallon with the rest of the fish might be a little crowded.. look if you can get a larger tank for starters.. or just stick to a silver.. research before you buy.. and i dont think we get peacock bass here.. if you did let me know.. :) all the best mate..

Have to agree, silver aro probably not the best choice for your new 90g tank.

@kaya...the 90 gallon(4 ft tank i m talking abt is for a time being)planning for a 6ft tank(no i dea abt d gallons)
so i ws jus wondering is it wise to get wat ever fishes(monsters) i get in small size or shuld it b large?
and abt peacock bass.....a lfs told me he ll b importing sum soon...so lets hope ......even i m desperately waiting for dis fish!!

manoj.. i have 4 silvers..the largest is a 24" in a 5X2X2 (LXWXH) and another three.. 2 at around 18" or 19" and one around 16" or 17" in a 6"X18"X2' tank.. with silvers as much as the length of the tank is important.. the width is a major part of the equation.. buying silvers is easy but caring for any fish and giving them the right requirement is the biggest thing here.. yes.. there are quite a lot of our greedy lfs who say you can house them in a 3' tank but that would just kill the fish.. could i say you'd be happy in a 10'X10' room all your life? :) i'm not discouraging you from buying silvers but rather than upgrading as and when your fish grows.. its better to get a large tank.. 1 adult aro could be happy in a 8'X3'X2' (well there is a never ending argument about that) think about it like this.. what is the largest tank you can get now? lets forget the peacock bass for the time.. they also grow huge..

ignore this question if you dont really wanna answer.. whats your fish keeping experience like.. if these monsters are going to be your first then i'd say start with smaller and more manageable monsters and think about it post a year..

first of all i forgot to say thnx in my last post so thnx a lot!!
n i got gud experience in fish keeping..m a hobbiest since 8 yrs nw...bt 4 yrs includies jus goldies n stuff den moved to discuss arowana and fh's
presently i got a arowana and a lpd. sinegal in a 4*2*1.5

n nw m planning for monster's(ofcourse got inspired frm dis site)
so i think i can handle ne fish jus wanna b sure d fishes dont end up killing each other..........
so m depending on u...
tel me d name fishes(monsters)avilable in india along vit arowana
tank size 6*2*2

oh no problem mate.. always glad to help.. for a 6X2X2 i'd really say stick with one aro.. i know you'd want to add two more but the fish wouldnt really be happy.. it took me two years to get the 2400 gallon project movin.. one year of dreaming.. one year saving and the building part, it has just come through pretty quick.. what size is the aro you have now? one option is to buy three or four 6" aros and sell them when they get a little too crowded.. but again the catch is selling a large arowana is always a problem.. i think you can get jus about any fish you want these days.. but at a price.. arapaima.. rays..tsn.. rtc.. almost anythin is available..

Hope this is not going to be one of "those" threads!

Hi Manoj.
What you have to bear in mind is that a 6 x 2 x 2 is no way near big enough for a single Silver even on it's own, let alone tank mates!

k..thnx guys!!
