is 90 gallons too small for a silver arowana?

Yes. And its not a little too small, its WAY, WAY too small. Arowana get HUGE.

On a side note. Spend time researching tank footprints (Length and width)

The difference between a 75g and 90g tank for example is (Assuming standard footprints) only verticle space, and that space isn't used by most fish.

This poor silver aro was raised to 22" in a 90 gallon tank.

where's Del? he usually does this kind of things. sadly 90 could only be a growing up tank for a silver. lets say 3-5 months max. a 150 will do the least for a tight budget. i would go for a 200 for a silver;)
