Those are some obese tiger barbs.. lol!
Beautiful GT!
Overall it's a very nice looking tank.. oh, and love the substrate..

Thanks:)

Yeah I have 2 fat barbs, the rest are normal...not sure what happened with that, I have a feeling they're just at the top of the pecking order and get the majority of the food or something like that.

And its a jack dempsey, I would love to have a GT as well, but I'm worried I'd upset the good-natured balance I have right now if I risk it.

My bad, I tend to get mixed up a lot... and I can't remember plant names either.. but the really long ones you have.. some reach the top of your tank. ..I had some at one time, and they were getting kinda long.. so I just snapped the tops off... don't do that.. if makes them look all jacked up.. grow way smaller than the original plant before being altered.. although I can see you know better than to do that..

I would have never thought that color substrate would look as good as it does in your tank...

Yeah, those plants are anacharis...water weeds. I noticed that too about clipping them, but it has to be done. I think if they're allowed the proper amount of light & nutrients they'll grow back just as full as they originally were...or at least I'm hoping so. Either way I'm going to let them all grow in for a month or so and see how it looks. I had them all floating for a day or two and I really liked the way they draped down into the tank, it just didn't work too well after I cut the filters on:\ I might actually try setting my filter outputs deeper and pointed down so that my surface plants don't get agitated so bad. I'd just have to put an airstone in the tank to keep up with surface aeration hmmmmm. Hadn't actually thought about doing that before.

I'm actually not a huge fan of the color I have in the substrate. I think it looks better than I expected it too when I decided to just dump all the sand I had into the tank, but its still too bright for my tastes. I'd like to take 1/2 or 2/3 of it out and replace it with a bag of black sand but thats 20$ I don't have available at the moment. We'll see.

Nice pictus !
