Alright so I planted my 90g about three weeks ago and have got the CO2 under control. I want to start stocking the tank. The plan is eventually to have six discus in the tank. I don't plan on getting the discus for a good six months or so. this is the first non monster community tank I have done in a while. Please let me know if you think I will be over stocked with these additional fish:
trio pearl gouramis (currently have)
8 black neon tetras (currenlty have)
5 zebra danios
5 roseline sharks (currently have)
2 bushynonse plecos
5 glass cats
10 cardinals
betta
6 or so corries

also would love to get some rummynose but I feel like I am already at my limit.
I am not a first time discus keeper, but a first time community tank discus keeper.

I would go with less species and larger schools. I think the tank would look more natural with just the Amazon fish. many tetras don't really school tightly. rummynose and lemons are great schoolers. when you add your discus you should get fish at least 4" or you will have issues. most people fail with discus because they add juvie discus in a planted community tank. it can be done, but most of the time it does'nt.

Thank you for the input. I plan on getting 4 to 5 inch fish. How big of school are you thinking? I love glass cats and think they are awesome, but I could definitley do with out them. ALso could easily do withou the betta.

Six four to five inch discus would be great. I would do Cardinals or Rummy nose abt. 12 of either with the discus and some corys (8 is a good number) one bushy nose would also work. Remember you want to keep the bio-load low and water quality high. Scrap the rest and danios are way too hyper for discus. Are you going for wild or domestic discus?

I saw a nice display once, it was a planted tank with a black background and about 7 or 8 White Rabbits and a school of Rummynose. No matter what you decide I would get all the same type of discus but that's just me different colors look like a tank with multi colored gravel too busy no focal point. Just not my taste. A group of wild Tefe would look nice too.

thanks for the great input. I am going to do domestic. Originally I was thinking kenny or hans. Once the tank is ready for it I might just look around locally and see what I can find.

I have 8 wild discus in a 120 gal. biotope with 12 cories and 25 lemon tetras. lemons get quit beautiful once they leave the lfs. I had one bn pleco but once it reached full size it got lazy (as most do) and would eat the fish food instead of algae. it also produced more waste than all the other fish combined. best move was to get rid of it.

thanks for all the input. Instead of getting a group of six of the same strain do you think two trios would look nice?
