91.2 degree temp....can ICH survive in it

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
91???? thats a little high in my opinion should be fine at 85 max

It will not survive in that high of a temp. Keep lots of airation. Your fish are going to have a very high metabolism in that temp, so feed well, and do extra water changes. Watch for aggression.

Already on it.

I feed them as much as they can eat 5 times a day.

I did notice they eat more at that temp.

They seem to be more active and like it.

I also have dual 6 inch airstones going on each end of the tank with a splash going from my powerhead filter as well.

I plan on turning it back to 88.5 in about 3 days. I have cichla so they like it hot.

No extra aggression...yet

wow thats crazy never heard of 91 degrees before although im a noob so lol

I had an ich problem 3 weeks ago. It would not go away. I jacked up the temp to 91 and in 1 day is disappeared.

Add some salt. like 1 tbs of salt/5g. Umm rock salt. and the cycle last for 5 days

the fact that ich came about at 88.5 is amazing to me, i thought it was supposed to not be able to live any time over 86

:iagree:

Add salt as a precaution so it can eliminate the remaining ich. I wouldn't rely on the high temp alone to do the job. You have to be very sure you are eliminating ich altogether as it is incredibly dangerous encouraging secondary infections once they infiltrate the fish's bloodstream in vast numbers.
