I have a Jack Dempsey, Red Oscar, Albino Oscar, and a Pair of Jaguars in a 125 gallon. My 3yr old informed me that my fish were angry and insisted that I come see. When we got to the tank she pointed to the two Jags and said see..... those are the babysitters. To my surprise there are 100-200 baby Jags swimming around under the parents. I am currently removing the other fish out, but when do I remove the babies away from the parents? Do I do it now or later?

Thanks! I kind of figured that. I still saw eggs sacs so I left them in there. I removed the other fish from the tank, and the mother fish has now gathered all the babies and placed them in a pit she made between the flower pot and the glass.

Move them when you want!

I have moved them out with in the hour of them hatching with very good results.......... also I have had no probs with leting them get to 2inches, its your call. ;)

I will try to upload some pictures soon. The male Jag is approx. 8 inches and the female is approx. 7 inches. It's hard to get a good picture. Dad is on patrol of the tank and mom is keeping the babies from getting out of the pit.

Welcome, Tyewag.

I will generally remove the fry within the first week, as they can take condition off the adults. I've witnessed fry make life hell for their parents, by eating the slimecoat right off their flank and such. Doesn't look confortable, by any means.

Lets see some shots of the Jags.

you can move then when ever you wan't you would really only wan't to keep them with the parents if there are other fish in the tank but if you have a fry tank you can move them to then you can do it when ever you feal like it
