Hey guys i have a 75 gallon, and i had my ebjd with 2 gouramis, 9 platys, and two plecos and now i have a firemouth, salvini, jack dempsey, and convict......Is this setup ok to work with:popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn:

It's possible that it will work out long term...

The couple times I've kept adult male Dempseys with adult male Salvinis, they did not get along well at all...

In my experience Firemouthes are a full knotch below the others in aggression/toughness... so it may end up overly stressed or beat up...

Since you already bought them it's a bad time to be asking... you'll have to wait & see then juggle whatever you need to if/when things explode.

Are you kidding, when i had fire mouths the were the most aggressive in the tank. I had one with jds, convicts, and oscars ( even a 8 inch oscar) and he owned the tank.

We must admit each individual fish is different...

I am also basing my experience having raised fish together from "babies" to full adults... It doesn't sound like this was your experience as an 8" Oscar is less than a year old... and in a year none of the fish we are discussing will be full adults...

I think if you ask around, you'll find your Firemouth was an exception . . . I have found them to very much in the middle; not so weak as to get bullied, but not aggressive enough to dominate

i have a similar set up. Salvini ruled the tank, but he didnt really push the JD around too much. the firemouths were always fighting with each other and dont really care about the convict.

Was this experience with Adult fish, young adult fish or Juvis?

I've had issues with a Salvini and a JD being together, they couldnt stand each other IME but as said above ^^^^^^ every fish is different
