ok this is going to be my first tank build and i need to find a free cad program to make my design so i have something to go off of and so i know where to brace everything. any idea's? it will be for ca/sa cichlids. aprox 540 gallons. also whats the best to use to seal the inside of the tank to waterproof it? i've heard liquid rubber is great any thoughts on that?

i used a pencil and a ruler! SO much quicker! IMHO
i fibreglassed the entire shell on mine. finished the inside with epoxy resin. should be pretty much indestructable now. one thing for sure, silicone has no issues bonding with resin. ive heard some have issues with paint!

Just finished my tank. Its plywood and i used liquid rubber, 5 coats. So far things are good. My tank is 8 feet long. 3 feet tall. And 30 inches deep.
Almost forgot. I used fiberglass resin on the glass side. Silicone doesnt adhere to liquid rubber very well
+1 on using google sketchup to model it, there is a bit of a learning curve but is farely easy to get used to.
Hey psychostick how much did it cost to build your tank? Trying to figure out how big of a dent this is gonna make on my wallet
