I bought this coral a few mths back and it never opened up for 2 weeks, thought it was dying so gave it to a mate and the thing started thriving after 2 days . He gave it back to me yesterday and as soon as it hit the water my moorish was into it:swear:. Have blocked it off from the idol and the thing is thriving in less than 24h (obviously why it didn't open up the first 2 weeks i had it)

Q1- what is this coral?? the common name over here is finger coral.

Q2- if i leave the coral blocked up for a few days will the idol get used to it and leave it alone?

Q3- why did my idol not touch one of these corals that i had ages ago?

1. I believe it is a bleached duncan coral (thats a large duncan colony!)
2. It might have just took a little taste, if the idol thought it was good, it will continue to nip on it.
3. Idols are a hit and miss with corals

Thankyou, i have heard Duncans also. Definately not bleached, just my camera making it seem that way.
On your opinion/advice, i guess one of them has to go!!!

Duncans.

No.

Good question. Depends on the fish at the time.

it does look like duncans... but it does look a little pale.. mine much greener than that... but that could be individual variation...

he'll prolly keep going... once ya pop, ya just can't stop :D

likewise.. he could have tried it once (later) and found out he liked em...

Thanks for the feedback all.
Unblocked the coral a couple of days ago, the idol hasn't touched it since.
Have come to the conclusion that my fish just likes to p#ss me off. :screwy:
