So there I was, my 500 gallon acrylic half full or half empty.
I had filled 2 hundred gallon tubs to put my 50+ african cichlids in, while I emptied the tank to remove the fine sand I had. The fish loved digging, which I knew, but they moved so much it would clog the filters.
Anyway, I heard a loud pop and the sound of gushing water. The end of the tank popped at the seems, front and back. I was able to save all the fish. I was also able to clean up the water fast enough that there was no damage to the house.
I had the tank running just short of 2 years and had purchased it used.
I'm out...... for at least a few months, I just replaced the roof on my house, that leaked too. I'll sell a few things to raise money to buy a new tank. I will be back and will post some pics when I start again.

A bit of a disaster?! Sounds more like a total fish keeping apocalypse!

I agree...odd that it gave out when it did. Sorry for the terrible bad luck. Hopefully you get everything sorted out and going again soon!

Good luck!

Thanks, Yah, I really don't understand why it would let go when half the water was gone. Strange..... but, only positive thing is at least I was there when it happened.
Anyone selling a 500+ tank?

That sounds like a situation when everything that can go wrong will go wrong. Hope you bounce back soon. Sounds like a situation I had about 15years ago when I was having a bad day and said that i am going to mess with my tank to relieve some stress. When I went to fill up the tank the bottom fell out.

sorry to hear that.
