a bruise on my wolf fish

my red wolf is constantly rubbing up against the rocks and pots in his tank and it has caused him to get a nice size bruise along his back.

how do i stop this and and how do i prevent this from happening?

Check first why is it scratching in the first place. Do you have pics of the wound? Water parameters? I made a sticky titled "Fish Health Diagnostics". You need to read that to point out what is the problem why it keeps scratching the same area.
