my ac just broke yesterday since then my tank has only gotten to 83 over night but its hot today so im tryn to fig away to cool it down till its fixed obviously i cant afford a chiller or have time to try andmake one lol i have tryed the frozen bottle water it hasnt worked yet maybe because its sooo hot...anyways my question is if i took 1 or 2 gallons of cold water and dripped it VERY VERY slow into the tank would that work?

you would want to make sure its filtered water and its saltwater of course. Its possible that it will work but its going to be a time consuming way to do it.

What size tank is it and whats the lighting like?

for now i would take out your heater if you have one to be sure thats not aiding in the heat and put a fan blowing lenghty wise over the top of the tank. This will remove any heat form the waters surface, and you'll be surprised at how much cooler it can get.

I dont think that would work. IMO

I would try larger bags of ice along with running a fan over the top of your tank, letting the breeze go over the surface area of the water.

Gather up all the clean (exterior) plastic bottles you can find and freeze those solid. It'll take overnight, but then you can float those on top until they totally melt down and reach tank temp. Then you dump those, refill with cold from the tap and refreeze (easier to freeze water from 50 degrees than from 83). Like I said, this will take a while to freeze, but you should see a temp drop during the night anyway.

i realize you got it to work

but in my house we dont run the AC all the time, but in my room it gets hot with my fish tanks and bearded dragon, so when the AC is off i leave the front and back lid open on my bio cube, doun use a fan or anything works fine keeps it at about 78
