QLD, austaralia
caught this fella a few years back,
caught on the Daiwa HRF baitcaster 20lb finns,
with a miller rod, forgottn the model, great rod though.
used a 300g spangled perch as bait on a 6/0 gamakatsu sucide hook,
un-weighted, I was chasing big saratoga, but this is just as good..

australian fortail catfish 8.5kg or 18.7lb, got a couple 4cm catfish out of its mouth, which i have had for years.

this fish was released unharmed.

Thats a cracker Drew, I dont mind catching catfish they fight hard.
It is Arius graeffei they are mouthbrooders.
A. midgleyi the biggest of the genus found up north grow to 1.4 metres
some people get upset when they catch them chasing barra but IMO they fight a lot harder.

i love catties,
the only time i get upset catching them is competition day.
and cheers for the info, i had my suspicions that they were mouthbrooders.
