i was just wondering if anyone has experience any change with your rays when there is a change in temp. we had a cold front last night and it looks like i lost a degree or two in my tanks i have one tank that is a bit over crowded and no change in appetite, but other tank my lg f motoro refused her food chewed it up and spit it out. she is weird like that to begin with. she is always finicky and always skinny. does any one notice a change in appetite or color or a change in behavior.
thanks
john

My fish room temp is dependent of the outdoor temp, so when we get a cold snap, my fish room temp drops a few degrees.. which usually drops the temp a few degrees in the tanks. I noticed that when this happen my largest female retic doesn't eat as much or as vigorously as she usually does. (1-2 pc of krill, instead of 5-6 and a j-lo booty).. I've been noticing during these winter months if I feed heavy for 3 days, than give a day off, they tend to never refuse food when opportunity arises.

my tank temp drops from 86 to 78 when i do a water change the rays love it they even used to breed when the fresh cold water was going in

My tanks drop from like 82-84 down to 78-80..

I have read that temp swing and salinity swings can trigger spawning..

i purposely drop my temp to 78-80 down from 86-89 and my tigers and motoros pound even more food in.....

the temp went from 84-82/81 just wondering over all behavior or appetite this is my second cold season experience. also getting ready to place rays in the fish room and the basement is cold, but i am going to be running a space heater and will have aquarium heaters as well should be sufficient.
