what species?

pikes are very adaptable, they live in many differrent environments, again we need to know what type of pike you have.
if it is a pike you fished out of a lake near your home, keep his water the same temp as it is outside (use chiller if necessary) and decorate the tank like the way the place he came from is.

everything depends on pike and collected location.
Dwarf pikes seems to do great with pebbles and small plants, maybe a cave. Most are sexed by spots on the dorsal and some the females get red/orange belly.

Bigger pikes def want wood or some cover with rocks or sand. watch your filters with sand when they make a pit it gets messy. Sexing can be done by color changes, white stripe on dorsal and tail for females or the red/orange belly.

For an age, depends on growth. some can tell by about a yr...

i have 6 of what i belive is anturus and 3 comprisseps and 3 xingu-I, they all live in seperate tanks :) Here is some pics of the norwegian pikes, but the get quite large and r not suited for my tanks.. they get like 40 inches and up, but same predator.. known to bite som unwary bathers and such.. or so the stories go :)
