We have quitw a few texas bp cross some of the older ones are showing some promise one of the red ones has poorer pearling which is easier to obtain pearls or a nice red coloring. Also trying to breed texas to our rd will these be as good of fry as our bp texas crosses both females the bp and th rd are a nice darker orange color and will the rd texas cross be a little bigger fish when full grown/

Pearls can be produced in a single generation.
Now if you want a red tex instead of just orange then thats going to take multiple generations, So to answer your question, You primarily want to breed for the red because color is much more important than pearls.
But it all depends on your plans. If your trying to start a breeding operation with tex x bps dont expect more than 3-5 good males per spawn. Which will be a huge time investment.
Otherwise you can pick up on somebody elese progress. Meaning just buy a good quality fertile female. The hard part about breeding these guys is infertility in the males.
And yes, Generally a Tex x rd(idk whether thats a dragon or devil) but will most likely be bigger than tex x bp.

Try a devil horn (flowerhorn X Red devil/Midas) w/ texas. I have a batch of growouts that look pretty nice it will take forever culling fry and line breeding depending on what you are tring to accomplish. CjBarth has some sweet carpintis x rt growouts I would check him out :D

Our plans are to breed for good quality rt's alot of our first batch have good pearling already will it continue in the line or fade as we breed for more red also is a large bump on the head needed for quality or more of a bonus. To get more red should we line breed or look for fish with more red in them naturaly and what kind of percentagse is a person looking at as far as males being fertile?

Forgot I would like to get a hold of some of these guys you mentioned but notsure abot shipping to Canada is this a problem because I 've it is a pain for us to ship to the U.S. is that true.

Our tx and rd have eggs now and they look to be fertile and there is a pile of them, is it more likly to get more fertile males from this crossing or is infertility the case fish are hybridizsd?
