Ok I just typed out a list of questions and they got deleted so lets try this again. I just recentlyl setup a 700 gallon indoor pond. I wish I have found this site prior to that but it has been usefull non the less. I notice that my water is starting to get a bit yellow. My filter setup is as follows. I have 2 waterfall pond filters hooked up to a 4500gph pump. 1 filter on either end of the pond. For media I have a sponge right where the hose comes into the filter, gravel, bio balls, filter pad, then plant baskets with carbon and plants. Im not sure if the water flow is to fast to filter it or not. Also I bought the carbon in bulk so Im not sure the quality of it. My fish load is about 12 or so larger fish ranging about 10in and 50 smaller fish around 1in. I recently added about a dozen exotic plecos and seem to be loosing 1 a day. Oh and the pond has been running for about 2 wks. Should I do a water change? How often should I do water changes and how much to I change? Also I have no uv filter hooked up at this time. The pond does get direct light but I have not noticed any algee it just seems a bit discolored. Thanks for your help in advance!

do you have driftwood in the pond? new wood will release tannins into the water changing it to a tea color. this is not harmful to fish and will eventually filter out.

it could also be an algae bloom. i recently had green water from algae. too much sunlight in my tank i guess. i did a 70% water change and cleaned the filter and so far so good.

i dont know much about ponds or how often to change water, so i cant help you there.

how recently did you set up the pond? fish may be dying from bad non-cycled water. check your water purity.

if your tank is new, there might not be enough algae for the plecos to eat. either rehome them or i have used algae disc food and some seem to like it.

oops, just saw the two weeks thing. youre water hasnt cycled yet and you have too much load on it. good chance that this is what is killing your fish.
