Ok I just typed out a list of questions and they got deleted so lets try this again. I just recentlyl setup a 700 gallon indoor pond. I wish I have found this site prior to that but it has been usefull non the less. I notice that my water is starting to get a bit yellow. My filter setup is as follows. I have 2 waterfall pond filters hooked up to a 4500gph pump. 1 filter on either end of the pond. For media I have a sponge right where the hose comes into the filter, gravel, bio balls, filter pad, then plant baskets with carbon and plants. Im not sure if the water flow is to fast to filter it or not. Also I bought the carbon in bulk so Im not sure the quality of it. My fish load is about 12 or so larger fish ranging about 10in and 50 smaller fish around 1in. I recently added about a dozen exotic plecos and seem to be loosing 1 a day. Oh and the pond has been running for about 2 wks. Should I do a water change? How often should I do water changes and how much to I change? Also I have no uv filter hooked up at this time. The pond does get direct light but I have not noticed any algee it just seems a bit discolored. Thanks for your help in advance! Oh and there is no wood in the pond at this time.

Should cycle the tank first. And don't add 50 fish at once.

+1. The tank is only 2 weeks old and probally just hasn't cycled yet. Yellow coloring seems odd w/o any wood. Could it be reside from gravel/sand.

yellowing could be from the ammonia that is killing your plecos. dont do a water change or you will only delay the cycling of the pond. go get some water test kits. test for ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates. if you have ammonia you are still in the first half of the cycle. if you have no ammonia but you have nitrites you are in the second half of the cycle. if you have no ammonia or nitrites but you have nitrates your pond is cycled do a 50% water change and buy a uv filter.

pre-treat your water first maybe in a ''55g drum'' or aquarium

an daily water changes should be possible
