A Day of Fluke Fishing

Some friends and I went out for the FIRST time this year(July).
Caught a bunch of throw backs but wound up w/ these two keepers(caught by me of course). Also brought home a bucket of hard shells, which made for a mighty fine seafood dinner.

Nice in NY charter boats used to go out of freeport for them but know they are also caught in several areas.

I used to go for Blues when I lived there but should have also gone out for fluke.

I go out on my fathers boat from sheephead bay. Cought some big Fluke 2 weeks ago, but they were out of season. When to the reef and picked up some nice Sea bass & Blues

Nice flatties. Went out on tuesday and put a hurting on the fluke. Had 8 NJ keepers going 7, 6, pair of 5's, 4, pair of 3's and a 19".

lol when you said flukes I thought you were reffering to the soft plastic lure by zoom called the fluke and super fluke.

those fluke look yummy!
i went fluking a few days ago and we caught 2 doormat fluke (if ya dont know what that means, it means keeper fluke)
god they tasted good lol.

I love fishing for fluke they are so fun to catch and very good to eat! The ones I caught were bigger though I picked up a 26'' last time, I use squid and cut it like a flag to keep it off the sand. Actually one of the best baits to catch them with is fluke. lol
I was out by block island in ri though around 70 ft. We caught a 4ft bull shark too that was pretty cool.
