my mom woke me up today to see an oscar laying on its side at the surface of the aquarium. the oscar was all white and looked dead. after some minutes it was swimming again. however there was a wound on its head near the side. my water parameters are
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
and i dont have a nitrate test right now.
could this be a sign of a near death or did the fish just get dizzy after hitting my filter intake valve and getting a wound?

Is it getting it's color back?

My Oscar is running into the intake and other decor all the time. When it's scared, or at night, mine oftens lays on its side. I've read that that is very common with Oscars.

When ever I rearange the tank after a water change my red O will lay on his side by the bottom of the tank. After a day or two he's fine. My albino could care less what happens. Some Os are just sensative. Thats what makes them such a great fish, they all have very different personalities.

but mine was on the top of the tank water almost the eye part was out of the water. right now it got its color back

That is indeed very strange...

Hmm, keep us posted if anything else occurs.

So he's colorful again, and swimming around now?

Try throwing in some Melafix, to help with the scratches, and best of luck in the future. :)
