I'm building (or may build) a custom tank. The dimensions will be 6'(or 8)x2'x4' (72(or 96)X24X48).
I would prefer acryllic due to the weight factor but glass is perfectly fine. The tank will be for any lizard 3' or larger with a semi arboreal habitat. I've been looking for sealants but can't find anything (tried canadian tire and walmart, going to home depot soon). Here are my questions:
1. would glass or acryllic be better for this type of tank? What about a sectional tank ( a tank broken into pieces that clamp together)?
2. what type of sealant would be best suited for the job?Apoxy, silicone sealant, or plumbing sealant? (covering all my bases here)
3. For thickness would 1 inch thick glass be suitable? What about 1 1/4 inch?
4. What are some ways to remove scratches from acryllic?

I would recommend glass as plastic scratches too easily and a large lizard WILL definitely scratch it!

that helps a lot :D
I'm in the brainstorming process right now on structure of the tank. I'm still thinking a large tank broken into smaller tanks that fit together would be nice but I'm not much of a handy-man :P
