I recently got this pleco and put him in my larger tank with my clown knife and tire track eel. Everybody in there seems perfectly ok with their tankmates. The pleco is maybe 8 inches long. So I was reading the first part of the dietary thread today (very informative btw) and this crossed my mind.....

I have 2 pacu in a different tank who will eventually go in the larger tank. Those guys are fast and I'm expecting them to gobble up whatever they can as soon as they can. Does anyone have any ideas about how to make food accessible to only the pleco? This is just a thought but I'm wondering if there is some sort of safe mesh material that I can use to make a bag that the pacu can't get food out of but maybe the pleco can?

I'm not sure what kind of pleco this is. I've poured over pics on various websites today and I think I have it narrowed down to a few different types. Maybe I'll post some pics a bit later. You all know way more about these guys than I do.

Thanks

I have a placo in a tank with 2 pacu. I have no troubles at all feeding the pleco. The pacus eat their fill and stop. Then I toss in a few more wafers for the pleco. The pacu get a variety of foods and somedays they just decide, nope, not eating that today and the pleco gets it instead.

If I put zuc or cuc on a fork in the bottom of the tank the pacu leave it alone and the pleco gets it all.

In an interesting little twist....the pacu used to eat just about anything when they were by themselves. Since putting them in the large tank they pretty much stopped eating what they usually eat and have taken to bloodworms and the occasional goldfish. I'm not so surprised by what they are eating but I'm a little surprised by what they aren't eating. So the pleco is in no danger of not getting enough food but I'm not sure what to think of this.
